New 7 Wonders

The Pyramid at Chichén Itzá (before 800 A.D.) Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

MEXICO

Chichén Itzá, the most famous Mayan temple city, served as the political and economic center of the Mayan civilization. Its various structures - the pyramid of Kukulkan, the Temple of Chac Mool, the Hall of the Thousand Pillars, and the Playing Field of the Prisoners – can still be seen today and are demonstrative of an extraordinary commitment to architectural space and composition. The pyramid itself was the last, and arguably the greatest, of all Mayan temples.

Christ Redeemer (1931) Rio de Janeiro,Brazil
BRAZIL

This statue of Jesus stands some 38 meters tall, atop the Corcovado mountain overlooking Rio de Janeiro. Designed by Brazilian Heitor da Silva Costa and created by French sculptor Paul Landowski, it is one of the world’s best-known monuments. The statue took five years to construct and was inaugurated on October 12, 1931. It has become a symbol of the city and of the warmth of the Brazilian people, who receive visitors with open arms

The Roman Colosseum (70 - 82 A.D.) Rome, Italy
ITALY

This great amphitheater in the centre of Rome was built to give favors to successful legionnaires and to celebrate the glory of the Roman Empire. Its design concept still stands to this very day, and virtually every modern sports stadium some 2,000 years later still bears the irresistible imprint of the Colosseum's original design. Today, through films and history books, we are even more aware of the cruel fights and games that took place in this arena, all for the joy of the spectators.

The Taj Mahal (1630 A.D.) Agra, India
INDIA

This immense mausoleum was built on the orders of Shah Jahan, the fifth Muslim Mogul emperor, to honor the memory of his beloved late wife. Built out of white marble and standing in formally laid-out walled gardens, the Taj Mahal is regarded as the most perfect jewel of Muslim art in India. The emperor was consequently jailed and, it is said, could then only see the Taj Mahal out of his small cell window.

The Great Wall of China (220 B.C and 1368 - 1644 A.D.) China
CHINA

The Great Wall of China was built to link existing fortifications into a united defense system and better keep invading Mongol tribes out of China. It is the largest man-made monument ever to have been built and it is disputed that it is the only one visible from space. Many thousands of people must have given their lives to build this colossal construction.

Petra (9 B.C. - 40 A.D.), Jordan
JORDAN

On the edge of the Arabian Desert, Petra was the glittering capital of the Nabataean empire of King Aretas IV (9 B.C. to 40 A.D.). Masters of water technology, the Nabataeans provided their city with great tunnel constructions and water chambers. A theater, modelled on Greek-Roman prototypes, had space for an audience of 4,000. Today, the Palace Tombs of Petra, with the 42-meter-high Hellenistic temple facade on the El-Deir Monastery, are impressive examples of Middle Eastern culture.

Machu Picchu (1460-1470), Peru
PERU

In the 15th century, the Incan Emperor Pachacútec built a city in the clouds on the mountain known as Machu Picchu ("old mountain"). This extraordinary settlement lies halfway up the Andes Plateau, deep in the Amazon jungle and above the Urubamba River. It was probably abandoned by the Incas because of a smallpox outbreak and, after the Spanish defeated the Incan Empire, the city remained 'lost' for over three centuries. It was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911.

SUDOKU Tips

How to solve Sudoku: Beginner Tips
Rules

* The rules of Sudoku are simple: Put the numbers 1 through 9 into the blank spaces in the grid. Every row, every column, and every 3x3 box must contain the digits 1 through 9.

Getting Started:

* There is no need to guess. Every Sudoku puzzle can be solved logically. The best way to start is by looking for clues. Most people start by looking for numbers that occur frequently in the initial puzzle. Say you have a lot of 5's in the initial puzzle. Look for the 3x3 box where there is no 5. Can you rule out places where a 5 might go? Look for 5's in other rows and columns that can help you eliminate where the 5 might go in that box. Remember, a 5 can't appear more than once in any 3x3 box, row, or column. If there is a 5 in column's 1 and 2, then there can't be a 5 anywhere else in either of those columns. You know then that whatever leftmost 3x3 box that is missing a 5 must have it go in column 3. If you can eliminate all the possibilities in that box except for 1 square, you've got it down!
* Once you've finished looking at all the 3x3 boxes make sure to fill in the 1-9's in rows and columns that have most of the numbers in them. If there are only two numbers missing in a row or a column you can usually use a process of elimination to figure out where to fill in the last two numbers. Scan the row or column where the missing numbers two are, if you see or eliminate one of possibilities based on the other row or column you can now complete the line you were working on.
* These two steps will solve most basic or easy Sudoku puzzles are all often called solving the lone number or eliminating singles. Difficult puzzles require solvers to look for contingencies in the puzzle. Contingencies usually require a solver to mark-up the puzzle with all the different options in each square. Sometimes there will be no way to eliminate a possibility for a square and you will have to choose between two or more numbers. In these cases it is important to remember where you made the choice to choose a number and backtrack if your original choice was not correct.

HareRam Pic Review

STARRING : Kalyan Ram, Priyamani, Brahmanandam, Kota and others

MUSIC : Mickey j Meyer

DIRECTOR : Harshavardhan

RELEASE DATE : July 18th, 2008

Good

Kalyan Ram is desperately looking for the exclusive big hit. He came up with an out and out action and suspense thriller this time and he also plays a dual role. Kalyan Ram gives a good account of himself in almost all the departments but the director has put in too much violence and plots and sub plots that leave everyone in the audience a bit confused.

Story:

Hari and Ram are conjoined twins. They are separated after a complicated surgery. While Hari is completely fit, Ram has a small problem. His brain has not been fully developed and this makes him react violently to any insult.

While they are about eight years old, Ram tries to kill his brother Hari for being intelligent than him. Their father Chandramohan is furious and scolds Ram. Ram’s mother Seetha leaves home with Ram.

Hari grows up and becomes an IPS officer. Ram is still seen as a violent guy who cannot bear to see anyone being termed as more intelligent than him.

At about this time, two murders take place – one is journalist Prabhakar and the other is of Dr. Rajiv Kanakala. Priyamani enters the scene as a banker and tries to woo Hari. But he does not reciprocate her overtures.

Health minister Kota Srinivasa Rao is the elder brother of Dr. Rajiv Kanakala and he is naturally livid at the murder of his brother. He suspects that it is the work of Ram. Meanwhile Priyamani reveals her true identity as that of a CBI officer. She takes Hari into custody.

Now the plot thickens and the reason and motive for the murders have to be established. While everyone suspects that Ram committed the murders, Hari takes it into his hands to finish off the evil health minister and his gang who are trying to introduce a deadly virus into the country and want to make profits by supplying the antidote too.

After a lot of drama, Hari finally finishes off the culprits. What happens to Ram is the suspense element in the film and must be watched on the screen.

Performance:

Kalyan Ram plays a dual role, that of a police officer and a violent young man Ram. While he does a pretty good job in his role of Ram, his role as police officer does not offer him much scope to perform.

Kalyan Ram has improved a lot and he has put in his 100 percent in this film. Kalyan Ram scores good marks for his performance. Priyamani as a tough CBI officer does justice to the ole. Brahmanandam manages to raise a few laughs. Ali has another routine role. Venu Madhav appears briefly and is his usual self. Kota Srinivas Rao as the evil health minster is adequate. Sindhu Tulani once again plays the role of a TV reporter and does a neat job. The rest of the star cast is okay.

The music is a bit loud at times, and the background score dominates he proceedings. The fights have been composed well and the cinematography is of above average standards. The film is good in technical and production values.

The director confuses everyone with too many turns and twists. The violence is also a bit too high and all the blood and gore is a bit repulsive. The film is a strict no-no for kids and to an extent the women audiencetoo. The film may appeal immensely to the young audience.

Director Harshavardhan seems to be unclear as to what exactly he was making – an action film or a psychological thriller and in the end, he comes up with a mishmash that is not entirely palatable.

How To decorate House With Vastu

How to decorate house with Vastu Shastra?
Great importance is given for the decoration of the house with the paintings, idols and especially the main door decoration. The main door was considered very important in ancient days and even today as the people used to think that all the prosperity and money comes from the main door.

Main door decoration: Care should be taken to decorate the main door. The objects of the main door as prescribed in the text are:

- Kula Devata: The image of the family deity. Its dimension should not be more than one hasta (18") of length.
- Two Prathiharis (Sentinels or guards): Well decorated in ornaments bearing staff and swords in their hands, well clothed, glowing with youth and beauty, along with lady Prathiharinis and placed on both the sides of the door.
- Dhaatri (a dwarfish nurse): her maid companions should follow it, the happy jesters i.e. Vidhushakas.
- Shanka and Padmanidhi emitting coins.
- The Asthamangala: on the seat of lotus wearing a sacred garland of eight auspicious symbols.
- Lakshmi: lotus seated and well decorated and being bathed by elephants.
- Cow with her calf and well ornamented with flower garlands etc.
- Motifs of serpents, giants, owl, wild animals, elephants, daityas, nudes, fight between God and demons, hunting, house on fire, trees devoid of flowers should not be placed on the main door.
- Nowadays people in their over enthusiasm to decorate the house use figures of Gods like Krishna, Ganesh, Vishnu etc. and also many other prohibited motifs.
- The following shlok explains the rules relating the above things:

"Grahe Na Ramayan bhatatha hawan chitram kurupanahvamindra jalikam . Shilocha yaarnyamayam sadhasuram bheeshmam kurutha krindhanaram thvanambaram.
Vaarah shaardhul shiva prudhakavo grudhabi golukapothavayasaa Sashye nagothadhi vakadhi patrino vichitratha no sharane shubhavaha."

Meaning - To display the following in a house is not good - War scenes from Ramayan and Mahabharata, Fight scenes using swords, Inderjall (magic) scenes, Stone or wooden statues of terrifying giants or demons, Scenes of weeping and crying people in tears. Paintings, potraits, statues: Decorative lights, chandeliers, bookshelf, vases, flower pots and furniture etc. should be meticulously and tastefully selected and placed in appropriate settings so that they look attractive and follow vaastu principles etc.

- The pictures, painting or models of the animals like pigs, snake and birds like eagle, owl, crow, pigeons, vultures should not be placed in a house.
- All pictures or wooden or metal figures of wild beasts like tigers, lions, wolves, bears, jackals, and wild asses, hounds etc. should be avoided.
- The heavy furniture should be placed in the SouthWest side of the room and the light furniture can accommodate in any corner.
- Symbols like Swastik, Om, Rangoli decorations stop the entry of evil spirits and evil influences in the house.
- The photographs of the ancestors should be placed on the southWestern side of the house.
- The clock should be placed on the Eastern, Western or Northern wall.

Installation of Idols in homes and other buildings: A pooja or worship place is a must in a home; it is better to have one in office, factory, schools, colleges and other buildings too. The appropriate place is the north-east corner of the building and if not then the north-east corner of the room in house and central chowk or garden or lawn of other buildings. The deities like Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwar, Surya, Inder should face east or West and four-headed Brahma, six-headed kartikeya, five faced Shiv can be placed facing any direction. Hanuman ji should face southwest.

Whatever is exhibited should be pleasing to the eyes and mind bringing joy and cheer to those who view them; aesthetic and cultural aspects also should be borne in mind, while selecting decorative pieces or paintings and pictures and placing them in our home.

Vastu tips

HOW TO CHOOSE A PLOT

Vastu , is like the astrology , is a vast science and its not possible for a normal human being to understand it fully ,but one should always consider some basic rules of Vastu. If you are looking for a plot , keep these things in mind. All the four directions , hills , water bodies , cremation places , highways etc , they all influence the Vastu of the place in one way or other.

There are some important factors that you should always consider while looking for a plot. Whenever possible one should always try to follow the Vastu principles as violation of these principles does destroy the happiness of one’s life.

You should never purchase the land from the following persons as the atmosphere of the particular space depends on the people living there.

* From people suffering from sickness , lunatics.
* From people who have become insolvent.
* Land donated to any religious place.
* Land without any deed.
* From people who have left the country.
* The place where magicians used to live.
* Land containing ant-hills , bones , skeletons.
* Houses sold by distressed , unfortunate people.

Considering the color , smell , taste and texture of the soil , it is categorized into following :

* The soil white in color , having lotus smell and sweet taste and that contain greenery is good for the learned people and teachers.
* The soil red in color , smelling blood and astringent in taste is good for Warrior class.
* The soil yellow/pale green in color , grainish smell and sour taste is good for the Business class people.
* The soil black in color , having pungent small and bitter taste is good for the lower or backward working class.

These are some of the basic points that one should always have in their mind and for more interesting and more useful tips on this particular topic…..

STUDENTS : TIPS FOR ATTAINING A BETTER RESULT

This is a academic week as now coming the TEACHER’S DAY……. So why not to give some tips to the students who are very bright but are not able to explore themselves fully .Many a times students complain that they are not able to concentrate , learn or retain what they have read .The remedy to these problems was formulated by our ancestors in the form of the directional science of Vaastu Shastra .For students eager to do well , here are a few techniques , following which the students can achieve success in their studies and obviously bring about a positive changes in grade and will come off with flying colors.

* The room to be chosen for study should be in the east ,North or the North-East direction of the house. These directions improve the absorption power and increase the knowledge content. Along with that if the door of the room is also in either of these directions , the result turns out to be the best.
* The study room should have images of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Saraswati.
* The books in the study chamber should be kept in the South-West , South or West direction and not in the North – East .In addition to that if the north – east direction bears heavy weight it shall pressurize the students’ mind.
* Furthermore , if the student studies on the table and chair , the table should not stick to the wall .It should be at least 3 feet away from it . Along with that unnecessary books should not be piled up on the table . Only the books which are needed should be kept on the table. Load of books on the table create unnecessary mental pressure on the mind .The study books should be placed in the cupboard in the cabinet rather than in the open .And if the shutter of the cupboard is kept shut , the flow of energy is constantly maintained.
* If the learner makes use of the Table lamp then the lamp should be kept in the South-East corner of the desk. Plus if it is a square table then nothing like it. Further the size of the study table should not be too big nor too small. It should be just the size which is comfortable for the working of the student. A big sized table diminishes the working capacity , whereas the small table gives rise to depression.
* Moreover , if possible , the walls of the study room should be light orange in color as it is very auspicious and enhances the wishing power as well as supports the speedy progress of mind.
* Along with that , at the same time of study , the learner should use a pyramid cape as it proves to be extremely beneficial . Not only that it embellishes the remembering power and absorption.
* The student should ensure that after studying when they go off to sleep , their head is in the South direction . It helps in maintaining the magnetic balance of the body and the earth.
* And last but not the least , a pendulum watch is a must in each and every study room.

Vastu for Humanity

World wide role of Vastu for humanity

The system of Vastu is an admixture of science, astronomy of astrology; it is covered with the influence of the sun, moonlight and heat, the earth’s atmosphere, wind direction, magnetic field and gravitation force on human beings. It gives practical guidelines on site selection, its contouring level, orientation of the building in relation to climatology and microweather, arrangements of areas/rooms in relation to the different activities of the proposed building. Their proportions as well as rituals for successive stages of house building.

Vastu also suggests the living condition in the house arrangements, and also plant & machinery layout in factory, business houses and also the placements of different activities, furniture layout, internal color scheme, the sitting and working arrangements, business administration, raw material and finished goods, arrangements for their storage, position of putting up boilers, furnaces, transformers, water storage and everything.

When travelling in an automobile and reaching towards destination. Now there are two factors, which will decide the journey, the vehicle and the road. The main cause of moving towards the destination is the car though road is equally important. So, in the same way, Vastu is like the road and vehicle is one’s karma. Even if one has a good vehicle but if road is not good, it will be difficult to reach the destination. Thus, Vastu facilitates to make the journey smooth.

vastu in 21 century

Role of Vastu Science in 21st century

* Our ancient Vastu Shastra has been founded in such a way, that the inmates can derive maximum benefits from sun-rays and the energies of the sun like heat light, UV rays – the only reliable source of Vitamin D (Vitamin D is absorbed by the blood directly when the bare skin is exposed to sun), which is vital for sustenance of life on the Earth.
* Uttaraayana and dakshinaayana too are of great scientific importance since daytime will be more than the nighttime in the Uttaraayana facilitating availability of more sun light.

TO KNOW MORE ABOUT ITS IMPORTANCE

* It is only some years ago that the modern scientists have discovered that the white solar light could be split into segments called visible rays and invisible heat spectrum. But thousands of years ago, our ancient Indian sages, not equipped with any kind of appliances were able to discern many natural phenomena in a scientific manner and according to the visible spectrum had distinctive names with specific functions besides colors like: Jayanta, Parjanya, Mahendra…. to Bhrsha and Aakaasha , which correspond to VIBGYOR.
* Other than that, sunrays consist of 7 colors (VIBGYOR) and their effect on human body is immense as it cures several diseases.
- The modern astra physics, during the last few decades, has divided the atmosphere into several zones like Stratosphere, Ozonosphere etc. but several centuries before this discovery, the atmosphere over which Varuna held its way was divided by our sages into Bhu, Bhuv, Swar, Jan, Tap and Satyalok.
* The Eastern direction assumes a great significance because the sunrays of early morning emit more light and less heat, hence the best. In the afternoon, sun moving towards West, grow hot emitting Infrared rays, which are detrimental to health.
* Thus, due to all these reasons, it is explicitly laid down in Vastu Shastra that more open space, more windows and doors fixed, more balconies and verandahas should be provided towards the East and the North side than in the South and the West side.

IF YOU ARE WISHING TO ASK SOMETHING
* The most important aspect considered while formulating the Vastu Shastra is the magnetic field of the Earth, which has significant influence on the human life. Human body itself acts as a magnet with the head, the heaviest as North Pole. If the head is directed towards the North while sleeping, the North Pole of the Earth and that of the human body repel each other affecting the blood circulation, causing disturbed sleep, tension and other problems. Thus, it is said by Vastu Shastris that ONE SHOULD NOT SLEEP FACING HIS HEAD TOWARDS NORTH.

TO KNOW MORE FACTS ABOUT LIFE

* Now-a-days many hitech instruments are available by which one can detect Vastu defect of a house by measuring the energy level of the person residing in. By using Feed Back Energy tester, one can not only detect the Vastu defect by measuring the energy of the human, but the same person can restore the energy with the help of ‘Yong Yang Deep Stimulator’. Another device to measure the human energy field is ‘Lecher Antenna’.
* In the most recent survey of the Gujarat earth quake effected regions , the maximum houses destroyed were not according to Vastu and those were intact were constructed on the principles of vastu.

necessity of Vastu

Why vastu is necessary ?

Vastu is the bridge between man and nature. Everything is made up of basic five elements – FIRE, WATER, EARTH, SPACE, and AIR. All These elements are only found on earth that is why it is the only planet that supports life and nature. If the residential and commercial buildings are constructed without any regards to these elements then how would it will give any benefits? From each of the basic elements we are getting a strange precious gift due to infinite powers of the universe.

All materials in the world , irrespective of their size, shape , colour , physical or chemical compositions have embedded their origins from one of the Panchbhootas . They enjoy peculiar vibration levels, which is evading the intelligence of human beings.

Vastu is in a position to reduce the gravity of the problems faced by human beings as well as industries particularly those suffering from sickness through vibrations of Panchbhootas which has anchored their roots in the body of the human beings as well as the external and internal building configurations.

Is Vastu a science ?

The Vastu science is founded upon the laws of nature. The equilibrium we observe in the nature is easily perceivable by us in all moving bodies, but unfortunately we are unable to note this equilibrium in static bodies. The basic source of energy of the whole world is stored at North and South Pole. It flows uninterruptedly from North Pole to South Pole in the form of magnetic waves. Therefore Southward portion of every building should be higher than the northward portion so that there may not be any hindrance to the flow of magnetic waves.

The cars are so accurately balanced that even deflation in any one of the tyres can cause a serious accident. Similarly, when a building is constructed without observing the rules of Vastu science, various calamities, diseases, accidents can occur. This is the eternal rule of the nature and it has no place for any logic, doubt or debate.

History Of Vastu

The historical background:

In the Vedic period, people built homes, temples and hermitages with a view to have a peaceful and harmonious living. But, in the modern world people build concrete clusters, mainly for the high rate of return. This race to make buildings not in line with the ancient bye laws of nature has led the world into pollution, environment and ecological problems with no peace of mind under any kind of shelter.

Vastu Shilpa Shastra, the ancient mystic science and the art of designing and constructing buildings finds its origin in Stapatya Veda, which in turns is a part of Atharvana Veda, one of the four Vedas. Vedas are not new to the other parts of the world and there have been people of all levels who have appreciated the depth, inspirations and insight of Vedic thoughts for many years. Our saints knew various mysterious and mystics of this vast universe even before western scientist could start finding them out. One of the systems discovered by them was VASTU SHASTRA.

SHASTRENANEN SARVASYA LOKASYA PARAM SUKHAM
CHATURVERG PHALA PRAPTI SHLOKSHCH BHAVEDYUVAM
SHLIP SHASTRA PARIGYAN MRITYOAPI SUJETAAM VRAJET
PARMANAND JANAK DEVANAMI DIMIRITAM
SHILP VINA NAHI JAGTISHU LOKESHU VIDYATE
JAGAD VINA NA SHILPANCH VARTATE VASAU PRABHO

Meaning – Because of VASTU SHASTRA, the whole universe gets good health, happiness and all round prosperity. Human beings attain divinity with this knowledge. Followers of VASTU SHASTRA get not only worldly pleasure but also experience heavenly bliss. With the above shloka, it is very much clear that VASTU SHASTRA is universal. It is not confined to any particular group of people in the development of all human being irrespective of any caste, creed or religion.

wat is vastu

Universe is one of the beautiful creations of nature and everything stands alive only in the limelight of truth. Just like every subject of human aspect is governed with rules, regulations & acts, similarly the nature has also got certain key factor principles for smooth governing of its residents, in which "Vastu stands for nature law" and ignorance of law is not an excuse anywhere.

Vastu is an inherent energy concept of science. We cannot see energy with our naked eyes but we can realize and see its application in different forms and fashions. We all know that "upto the knowledge of mind is called Science and beyond the knowledge of mind is called Spirituality." Hence, Vastu is not only a science, but is a bridge between man and nature, thus teaching us the Art of Living.

HUSBAND: "Definitely not!"
WIFE: "Why not - don't you like being married?"
HUSBAND: "Of course I do."
WIFE: "Then why wouldn't you remarry?"
HUSBAND: "Okay, I'd get married again."
WIFE: "You would?" (with a hurtful look on her face).
HUSBAND: (makes audible groan).
WIFE: "Would you live in our house?"
HUSBAND: "Sure, it's a great house."
WIFE: "Would you sleep with her in our bed?"
HUSBAND: "Where else would we sleep?"
WIFE: "Would you let her drive my car?"
HUSBAND: "Probably, it is almost new."
WIFE: "Would you replace my pictures with hers?"
HUSBAND: "That would seem like the proper thing to do."

WIFE: "Would she use my golf clubs?"
